Thanks to @ma.interiors.brighton, we’ve had the rare privilege of being able to visit one of Brightons’s most historic interiors at the Brighton Hippodrome.

Built in the 1800’s, this jewel has hosted names such as the great Houdini, Charlie Chaplin, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles! It has changed many uses over the years; starting out as an ice ring, to a circus, variety theatre and even a bingo hall, it has been left to fall in disrepair since 2006.

Today, with more damaged parts than sturdy ones, it is going through a long, difficult and expensive renovation, thanks to hard working people and a vision to bring it back to life, hopefully bringing on a bright new era for the Brighton Hippodrome.

A Royal Brighton Pavilion appreciation post.

The Brighton Pavilion is a Grade I listed former residence. Staring out and stables in 1787, it was built in three stages for George Prince of Wales. He later became King George IV in 1820. He used this as his summer retreat, a place for his mistresses and lavish dinner parties, which had a heavy theatrical flare.
Despite the arabesque exterior of the building, it is clearly evident through the Pavilion decor that George had a love for Chinese culture.
